156 The Great Dresser Debate

I made some super budget friendly thrift finds for the future studio this weekend!  I am so giddy excited I couldn't wait to show you!

This dresser was a great score on Craigslist for $40!

Aside from a small blemish on the top, it has great details and is a solid piece of furniture!  I am planning on using the dresser for mega amounts of concealed storage.  Everything from Silhouette vinyl to scrapbook supplies to printing paper!

And this giant ornate frame from Salvation Army... wait for it... $10!!!

I think I am most excited about this find.  It reminds me of the frames shown in yesterday's Labor Day organizing post from Ballard Designs, but without the $300 price tag!  Yip to the yay my friends; I am feeling some greatness in my near future!

Not seeing it?  Paint aplenty will be happening very soon.  The frame is getting sprayed white and some pretty colorful fabric will be added inside for a pin board.  The dresser... that's where I need your help!  {here is a reminder of the wall color and some room progress so far}:

I was instinctively going to paint it out white.  Then, maybe spray the drawer pulls a fun color to bring in more dimension to the future space.  However, the more I thought about it, white bulletin board frame, white future desk built in, white white white....

White never fails though, it's safe and I know I would love it and be able to bring color into the space in so many other ways, like a great rug, lighting, accessories, etc... Here are a couple of inspirational white dressers to keep me on the white train:

{1, 2, 3, 4, 5}

But to push my comfort zone and do something a little CRAZY, what about yellow?!

{1, 2, 3, 4, 5}

I kind of love!  And gray blue paired with yellow?  Does it get any more fun than that?!

Then again, there is always turquoise and pink to consider too?

{1, 2}

What's a girl to do?

I need your help!  I want to get started on it this week, but I thought you could help me decide one way or the other which would be the best choice.  Because right now I am totally split 50/50 on white and yellow decision!

  1. For what it's worth, I think you should stick to the white. Pops of colour can always be added and changed as you see fit... repainting the entire dresser if you decide you don't like the yellow in two years... not so easy in my opinion.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

  2. I vote white! As much as I like pushing my comfort zone, a big piece of furniture like that needs a more basic color (in my opinion). You can always use hot pink or bright yellow to accessorize (or even use as handles), but when you get tired of the brightness, you'll still have white (which is an easy go-to). Happy Tuesday!

  3. Yellow for sure! It's basically a neutral right? :o)

    ReplyDelete
  4. Oh my so many great colors to choose from...but I'm sticking to my guns with pink:) I just know it will look great in the space! However that yellow is pretty exciting too but the pink...I'm still with the pink lol

  5. I lovvve the yellow. Perfect choice!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm thinking either yellow or turquoise. I think the pop of color in your studio will be perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yay for yellow Jen!

  8. Hmmmm so tough. I too have been trying to break out of my color comfort zone. But big pieces I like using white, white is always classic and you can switch around and add pops of color. I don't know what your plans are but maybe you could paint the frame a bright color instead of white (so there's not so much white?) Nomatter what you choose it will look awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  9. White! And then like you said - add lots of other color and do something fun with the dresser tabs!! Then you can always change color scheme years down the road!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I like yellow number five. Nothing too neon, but bold. White is safe, but that can be your fall back option. You could also try a charcoal grey if another color fails but you don't want white. Great scores! Can't wait to see what you do. I know it will be great!

  11. I am going to show my age by voting white! I love white because it is timeless and you can accent with any color.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I totally think yellow! But what if you painted the base white and only the drawer fronts yellow? It would be easy to change the drawer fronts down the road if you decided it was too much. Might be a happy compromise!

  14. My eye is automatically attracted to the white. While I think the yellow, blue and pink are attractive, I can also see getting tired of those colors in a year or two once the "Oh wow! Look at that color!!" wears off. But white is always classy and you and add color to white with a simple accent piece any time you want to. And it goes with every wall color! Just my opinion, of course. What a great piece of furniture ~ can't wait to see what you do with it!

  15. Ok. I love the yellow, but I went back and peeked at all your studio posts again before coming up with my opinions.

Right now, you have a white desk, white chairs, and a brown wood table. Though I like the yellow, I think that doing white would be more cohesive. Otherwise you'd have furniture in 3 different colors.

What if you painted it white, but then found a piece of fun yellow & gray fabric and put that on the top? You could put it under a piece of glass. Then you'd have a fun pop of color but not have to re-paint the whole thing if you were tired of yellow.

But I think it would be fun to make the mirror yellow!

  16. Hey, that's my pink dresser I did for my baby's room!! :D
I think you should do yellow or turquoise!! And I LOVE the white hardware with the turquoise! GORGEOUS!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I would love the turquoise or maybe a apple green or even a lavender, I've seen yellow done so much, I guess I feel like its been done.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I just painted a dresser white for my little boy's nursery, so I vote white. You could paint the frame yellow.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I vote white. As others said it will always be classic. You could get some amazing hardware either in bright colors or like this http://i-cdn.apartmenttherapy.com/uimages/unplggd/051810_rg_IKEAMissionControlDesk_04.jpg. That way you can even label the drawers.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think pink would look great! It would match the rug on your laundry room and the papers you used on the magazine holders :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. How about a white dresser w/ a yellow top and drawer pulls? Then make sure there is yellow in the push pin fabric. I love yellow, gray & white.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I vote white--I just painted a dresser in my girls' room white and did a pink stencil on top (blog post not up yet :) I love it!! Also, love your new profile pic ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I vote white and paint the frame yellow!so jealous of the frame ..been looking for one that size forever!

    ReplyDelete
  24. You could always try painting it white and then doing a fun stencil (we know you can do it after doing that wall and it won't take nearly as long!) on the front of the dresser in a fun color!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Given the dresser is going in your creative studio, I think you should definitely step out and paint it yellow. So trendy, fresh, and fun!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love all the colors, but love white too. How about white with yellow chevron stripes on the drawer fronts. That way if you tire of the yellow, you'd only have to repaint the drawer fronts.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I vote yellow! Normally I would say white is the safer choice, but given that the dresser is going into your studio which is your own creative space, I say go with what will inspire you!

    ReplyDelete
  28. My vote is for white. If this is a space for crafting & working, things will get pretty colorful as is and you may want the ability to put it all away and have a bit of peace and quiet too. Plus - I just always love the classics. LOL

Color is so fun but can get to be too much of a good thing. I suppose it really depends on the mood you're going for in your room.

Good luck with whatever you choose - it will be fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  29. My vote is yellow without question. I think you would be happy that you branched out from the usual!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I vote white because you can easily change the pulls and the accents for pop of color whenever you want to change it but you won't as easily be able to change the dresser every time you change your color scheme. Plus, It seems to me you have a lot of white furniture in your home, so you mind as well stick with that and maybe make the frame yellow instead of white for that pop of color.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm boring, so you probably shouldn't listen to me, but I'm loving the white. So clean, so simple and you can totally accessorize it like crazy with lots of fun colors!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I absolutely love the yellow. I would just suggest being 100% sure on such a drastic color before going all out with it. Either way, it's a pretty awesome find.

    ReplyDelete
  33. My vote is yellow or turquoise..

    ReplyDelete
  34. I can't wait to see what you pick. I have just stripped and sanded an old dresser and now it's time to pick the paint. That's the hardest part for me. I'm somewhere between white, a cool blue/gray and the turquoise. Not a big fan of pink and I haven't been able to pick a shade of yellow I like yet. Just too overpowering for little rooms.

    ReplyDelete
  35. My vote is yellow # 4, the one on the bottom left.

    ReplyDelete
  36. White.. definitely! ;)Because you said it already: "White never fails though, it's safe and I know I would love it and be able to bring color into the space in so many other ways, like a great rug, lighting, accessories, etc..."

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love the yellow with the white top, its the best of both worlds.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I vote yellow! I've been obsessed with yellow decor lately...it's so cheery!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yellow! If you get tired of it in a few years....head to craigslist for another dresser or buy some new paint. You can go wrong being adventurous in your studio for 40 bucks plus paint cost. Can't wait to see it whatever you decide, though!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would paint it yellow. Push yourself out of the ole ZONE and give it a try. The WORST that could happen is that you don't like it and you will have to... re-paint it. So excited for your finds. Can't wait to see what you decide and how the room comes out.

    ReplyDelete
  41. That's a great dresser! I'm in love with yellow right now, so that gets my vote! I just painted a desk in gradient shades of yellow and it's so cheerful and bright! So that's an idea, too!

  42. I say white!!!! What about facing the drawer fronts with the same fabric that you put in your frame. That will add a splash of color and when you are sick of the fabric, just take it off. Or maybe cutting out a piece of fabric that will fit the top of your dresser, then place a piece of glass the same size on top. When you are sick of it just take it off, no mess!

    ReplyDelete
  43. What about using a cream??? That gives you both the white and yellow and you can accesorize with anything going that route. You break out of your comfort zone.....a little, but it's still a useful piece if you decide for a change. You could even do the fronts of the drawers in a vintage wallpaper to pull in multiple colors if you really wanna go crazy. I know whatever you do will be great!

    ReplyDelete
  44. If I had to decide between white and yellow, I'd go for white, but..... how about natural wood colour? Look at this set of photos... on 6th photo there's a dresser in the kitchen in natural colour:

  45. I'm on a yellow kick right now, so I vote yellow! You can't help but be happy when you see a bright glossy yellow anything. I just did a mini-office-cubicle makeover and used LOTS of yellow accents with my gray cubicle walls. I feel so much happier here now!

    ReplyDelete
  46. One more comment, I LOVE that idea of the old style metal file drawer label holders. What a great, fancy, way of labeling your drawers. Great idea on the white dresser!

    ReplyDelete
  47. My favorite is the turquoise but I'm going to be super boring and vote for the white!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I like yellow, but definitely not with gray...yuck! I would go with a light turquoise. Very fresh and relaxing.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I think you should check out this etsy shop for some ideas...why stick with just 1 color? This college friend of mine remakes furniture and she uses wallpaper and/or paint. It's fun and unique! The link is to pieces that have been sold because she doesn't have anything currently listed but it would give you some different ideas! http://www.etsy.com/shop/knackstudio/sold

    ReplyDelete
  50. Though I LOVE color, I would ultimately stick with white because, as many others have said before me, it would be a pain to repaint the whole thing if you end up wanting to change it. I know you move furniture & accessories around in your home a lot, so white would be more neutral if you ever wanted to move it. Also, I know you can accessorize the heck out of it, and you always find the cutest, most colorful stuff--so you can make it shine! Maybe some pretty & colorful drawer liners are in order?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I say push your comfort zone with the yellow. Yellow has a great energy and it is fantastic for creative places.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Do yellow!!!!!!!!!!! You'll be glad in the end..its such a happy color!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I say go BOLD!!! :) This is YOUR space - not very many other spaces could you be so free with your color choices - as a fellow mama of all boys I would vote PINK!! Where else are ya gonna get that girly girl color!

    ReplyDelete
  54. My vote, white dresser (timeless) with yellow frame (trendy). You can change the frame color quickly on a whim as your tastes and desires change. The pulls can be changed (how about a happy hodge-podge similar to your bag hangers from anthropologie?).

What amazing scores! How about that hanging door hardware? Waiting on that info!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I would say paint it white, add something colourful by using pink or yellow vases to hold your pencils and some flowers, or add pink knobs to the drawers, put up some pink shelves above the dresser - so ou can get rid of the colours quckly and inexpensive once you decide it's all too bright.
I usually like those bright coloursduring spring and summer, but around christmas I would not want to have o look at a pink or bright yellow dresser ...
By the way, TODAY I saw the first gingerbread and christmassy cookies in my supermarket!!! SILLY!!!
    Jule

    ReplyDelete
  56. seriously IN LOVE with your frame and can't wait to see it made into a pinboard! Also... the color options are just endless when it comes to the dresser! I say... GO BOLD! I too am guilty of wanting to stay with white because it is soooo versatile... but I say, JUST DO IT! Slap a bright, bold color on there- I am super partial to the turquoise and yellow, but that Pink is HOT!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I would say tone down the yellow and go for it. If you hate it soon, then you can go to the white. I'm not so sure the bright yellow is the right look for the room, but I can see something much more buttery.

    ReplyDelete
  58. That hot pink color would be fun! I see your pink mouse and flowers already on the desk........they would go great together!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I vote green! Not a choice but I love green - light and airy! Can be a good neutral too. Where are those scalloped pink and yellow mirrors from? I LOVE them!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'd go with the less bright yellow (bottom left image). Primary yellow would just be too bright for the grey walls. Painting is easy. If you don't like it in a few years, you can repaint it.

I think you need to decide if that dresser is to be a focus in the room. If not, then white. If you want it to be the first thing you see when you walk in the door? Also what kind of energy do you want for the room? A relaxing, soothing space (go white), or an energetic get up and get moving space (bright colour).

    ReplyDelete
  61. As I was reading, I thought, 'what about yellow?'

Then, as I read on...you were thinking the same thing. I think yellow would be great! It would bring some "sun" in.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ultimately the wall color would drive my decision. But my favorite is the turquoise! Check out this blog from Micheal Penney (formerly of House & Home Magazine). The shots of his home show a piece painted turquoise in the front hall. Looks fab!
    http://michaelpenneystyle.com/2011/07/19/our-house/

    ReplyDelete
  63. White! You can always change up the accessories or hardware if you change you're mind, but to repaint the whole dresser might not be as easy. I'm secretly loving the pink too though! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  64. YELLOW! I just painted our nightstands yellow in our gray based bedroom. Definitely outside my comfort zone, but I LOVE them.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I say go with the happy sunny yellow!!

    Paula M.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ooo, I'm loving the turqoise!! Yellow is my second fav. But whatever you choose, I'm sure it will look great!

    ReplyDelete
  67. When It comes to refinishing furniture, i say WHITE. I love color like crazy too but I would stick with painting the knobs, they are a lot easier to change out if you want change. Refinishing a dresser, not so easy to change. Although doable. I do want to see it a fun color just cause I do love the bright colors Especially the yellow but speaking from experience, I refinished a dresser last year, came out amazing but now I want to change bedding etc, and yeah it wont match. So for big anchoring pieces I think neutrals are best with splashes of color in accesories... Good Luck.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I vote for the white dresser because I agree with others that it's a lot easier to add pops of color with your accessories.

With that said, I'll be different and say that I think a bright GREEN would be a great accent. Can't wait to see what you decide on!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I say stick with the white, if only because if you make it another color, it's seriously limiting in what other accessories/items in the room you can have. It will dominate your color palette, and probably the room as a whole. But that's just me... I'm a huge white fan too!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think that you should do white and then just add some accents of other colors.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'd say white, its always a classic.

    Two questions.
    1. How do I easily add a comment to your posts? At the end of each one I fail to see something like "comment" or "add a comment". All I see are links to Facebook, etc.
    2. Not sure what readers prefer but would it be possible for links within your posts to open in new tabs? I can do this but I have to right click and select for it to open in a new tab. I think its beneficial for bloggers (and from what I have read, even recommended), for links to open in new pages instead of taking them from your post to another page.

Just a thought. I really enjoy your blog and really like your ideas!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I vote white for the dresser, only because it is a lot harder to repaint the whole thing when you're ready for a change, or if you are to move it to another room. Also, as someone above said, you can always find a bright, fun fabric and put glass over it on the top of the dresser, and there's always painting the pulls bright, or finding some fun handles. But I definitely think you should paint the frame a beautiful bright yellow (or the pink, I'm totally loving that shade!), it'll give you a beautiful splash of color and it isn't nearly as difficult to repaint as the whole dresser would be!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I say paint it yellow. So much more fun!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Jen, I vote for yellow! That dresser is a great find and so is that frame. I can see you make a super duper bulletin board out of it. I had one made from an Ikea mirror frame for my kitchen and I totally love it: http://www.ikeahackers.net/2011/07/mirror-to-bulletin-board.html

    ReplyDelete
  75. I say BRING ON THE COLOR!! Love the Yellow!!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. It's the basement, no natural light, you live where the sun don't shine as much. :) Paint it yellow, you won't regret it!

I am loving the frame! Can't wait to see it all done.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I vote for turquoise! It would be stunning! Or have you considered a charcoal gray if you're looking for something more subdued?

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'd say orange - but that wasn't a choice, so I'll go with yellow.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I like white best with some fancy drawer pulls. That way you can change around as you please.

    ReplyDelete
  80. WHITE! You can always add your color with your accents :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. YELLOW! :) You won't regret it! We repainted our daughter's dresser yellow and it is now our favorite piece in the whole house.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Turquoise! :) Can't wait to see what you come up with Jen!

    ReplyDelete
  83. I'm voting for white. For a huge piece of furniture, I'd go classic rather than trendy. Yellow, turquoise and pink are all way popular right now and I can see the urge to break your comfort zone, but like some others have commented - what a giant chore it would be to repaint the whole dresser down the road if those trends or your tastes change. I like the idea of going white and popping the white with a fun color.
But no matter what you choose, I think it'll look fun! :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. WHITE! You can punch it up with other accents in the room. :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'd do white because I'm too chicken to do anything else but I love the yellow and I think that's totally you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. White for sure in my opinion. You can paint the pulls a color like you mentioned and it would give it that pop of color.

    ReplyDelete
  87. White! Your blank canvas to accessorize! When the furniture is white you are more free to use a wider variety of patterns and accessories. IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  88. My vote is white and maybe some fun pulls in yellow--if it isn't too much working finding pulls that match up with the holes the current pulls will leave behind. Whatever you decide will look perfect, I'm sure!

    ReplyDelete
  89. I vote turquoise first, gives it a bit of color but also blends with the room. Yellow as a close second though :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. white. yellow reminds me of the time you painted your living room yellow.

    ReplyDelete
  91. My first instinct was to say Turquoise, but, after going back to your picture above... I say YELLOW! You have some blue/green going on in there so the yellow would POP perfectly! =) Good Luck!

    ReplyDelete
  92. YELLOW!!! Although White was very nice too!! :) ooooooo . . . that's a hard choice????? Split the difference . . . pale yellow!!!! haha j/k
I'm sure whatever you do it will be fabulous!!
    lots of Love
    Ashli

    ReplyDelete
  93. Yellow yellow yellow!! I love yellow! Im looking for a console table to paint yellow and put in my little nook of an office.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I love the yellow, but if you're aren't sure about painting the whote thing yellow what about White with just the drawer fronts painted yellow with classy simple hardware? Just food for thought. I went out of my comfort zone when painting my craft room a bright turquoise and I still love it 2 years later! I can't wait to see what you choose, either way it will look fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I thought "yellow!!!" the second I saw the dresser and this was confirmed by the picture you posted. I think it would honestly look good any happy color you painted it, even white, but yellow is so happy and goes well with many other colors you could bring in!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I vote white and then do a fun stencil (in a bright color) on top for that pop of color that you are looking for... what a great find!

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'd go for white myself. Looks like it's gonna be a close run thing. If it's a tie how about white unit with yellow draw fronts!! Look forward to seeing how it turns out and what you decide. I always want to try bold colours but then end up going back to neutrals in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I vote for yellow or pink! I just painted my daughter's dresser pink and it turned out soooooo fun!!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. since its for a space that is just for you and your the only pink in a house of blue I vote PINK :D

    ReplyDelete
  100. yellow...the shade that the dresser with the blue canisters on it is. I love gray and yellow! :)

    ReplyDelete
  101. either of the two yellows in the right side pictures OR turquoise. pink is fun but you might regret it in a month :)

    ReplyDelete
  102. White. Paint the pulls or find some cool pulls in bright colors. I love the idea of using the hot pink for the pulls and then add something like that insanely gorgeous yellow lamp in the picture with the turquoise dresser. It would pull the colors from the rug that you have in your laundry room just off of this space. Really, you can't go wrong, but I'd stick with the safety of white and add your color through accessories!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Yellow is overdone. Turquoise is becoming the new yellow. White is a classic choice. But I LOVE pink as an option...especially since it's a space just for you! Where else in your house could you have a pink dresser?!

    ReplyDelete
  104. white! it will always be classic! you won't regret it in 3 or 4 years. if you definitely want color though? i vote turquoise :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. Definitely white - it's more classic.

    ReplyDelete
  106. yellow yellow yellow bright yellow!!!!!!!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  107. White! You can change up the look with accessories as often as you want!

    ReplyDelete
  108. White dresser with yellow and white chevron strips on the drawers! Just a thought! Can't wait to see what you do. Great bargains!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Try a reverse stencil with white paint! http://www.flor.com/blog/reverse-stencil-dresser/

    ReplyDelete
  110. My vote is yellow! If you didn't have so much white going on already, I would have said white, but I think doing one more thing in white will be overkill. Like you said, I LOVE the combo of gray (gray blue) and yellow together. I did love the one example of a white dresser with the handle pulls (because I heart anything with a handle pull) and the old fashioned drawer labels. That would take it to the next level!

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'd paint the side grooves white, and then paint over them in turquoise to give a little relief effect. Not talking antiqued or anything, just a little pop of white to break up the turquoise.

    ReplyDelete
  112. YELLOW!!! I am SO in love with yellow (and gray) right now. I totally think you need more than white in that room. Yellow is super fun and brings a little "sunshine" into the room. I don't think you want it Turquoise if you are putting it in the room shown above. Personal opinion, but ya asked ;)

    ReplyDelete
  113. I agree with sticking with white.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I vote YELLOW!!! It is such a happy color! :D

    ReplyDelete
  115. white, can accent with all the other colors!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I vote yellow, too. (please paint it yellow so I can live vicariously through you! haha!)

    ReplyDelete
  117. Definitely yellow. Fun! It will go with your personality.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I really love the yellow, But I do agree it might age a bit quicker.

    ReplyDelete
  119. PINK! It looks like that would go great with the rug in the laundry room and would be a great contrast against the wall color! the bolder the better!!

    ReplyDelete
  120. As I was reading about you wanting to paint it white, I was secretly hoping you'd pick yellow. Then I scrolled down and was so happy! I definitely vote for yellow, but nothing too bright, then maybe some fun turquoise drawer pulls? With the white framed pin board I say make this piece fun! Can't wait to see what you decide!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Yellow, yellow, yellow, pleeeeease!!!

    ReplyDelete
  122. I don't like turquoise with your wall colour. Yellow or white : )

  123. orange... o wait someone said orange is not an option... lol okay white :) but tell me... how are you going to paint this? with a brush? will you see the brush strokes?

  124. Absolutely Yellow!! Yellow is so "in" right now and will be a total compliment and feature against your walls. I've been dying to paint something yellow in my house, but haven't found the right thing yet! :)

  125. I vote turquoise, a nice bright shade of it. Why? If I think of you and your blog, it's the colour I think of!

  127. A right shade of yellow will look super cute. With silver or black handles and black frame.

    Is green an option?

  128. At first I thought white was the obvious choice, but it's also the "safe" choice. You also have all the white from the laundry room coming through. As I read your post, I started to like the yellow (a color I really do not like) but it looked like it would fit in your room well. The photo of the yellow dresser with the white top seemed like a perfect fit your special room.

Then you went to turquoise. I LOVE the pale turquoise with the yellow lamp. The photo you chose has the white and yellow accents complete with the gray walls. Wow!

Lots of votes on here. Can't wait to see what you decide.

  130. I like the idea of white, with maybe a stencilled top. Maybe checkout your color choices against your rug and the fabric you want to use in the frame, that way you pick a color that coordinates or contrasts nicely and doesn't clash.

  131. Yellow or turquoise. I agree you can add color elsewhere w/ other accents but with so much white it might be nice to break it all up! but i'm a color lover so.....

  132. I like the white or the turquoise. White is more likely to stay long term without wanting to change it. I like how you can add pops of color easily to white. The yellow might be too overbearing. I think white would look best with the wall colors too.

  133. Definitely a color. :) I like the white too, but you do have a lot of white furniture going in the space already, and with the different style of this dresser, I think it should stand out.

  134. i am loving the pink! then again, i've always been partial to it. and, i do know that your impeccable taste, you'll pick the right color.

by the way, i've always loved your blog and have been inspired by it (although i'm not by nature an organized person) to make a few changes here and there.

  135. Great dresser! I would go with white and paint the frame a fun color and the knobs the same as the frame :)

  136. Your dresser is almost identical to the one in my room. I toy with the idea of painting the furniture white, but for now I'm not. I think you should just let it sit in your room and work around it. Then when you have more pieces done you'll know exactly what color you want the wood and the pulls to be. It is a great place for storage and my bedroom set are hand-me-downs. There are nicks and scrapes on top that I cover with little table cloths and runners in pink and white. Nothing beats free!!! I'm excited to see you getting your "room" back after the floods.

  137. The bottom left yellow dresser (#4) is one that I refinished for my wedding and is now in our baby's nursery as a changing table. The color is a Martha Stewart interior with a few coats of satin clear. The handles were powder coated to provide some durability, the rest of the details are hand lined.
The color has been very nice in the house and adds life to any room really. The key is not too vivid on the yellow.

  138. If you have 3 pieces of furniture, just do all 3. If you just have two, you can put pictures like with that big frame, and lamps and other little things one of the colors!
