38 IHeart: An Organized Cleaning Caddy!

I guess the title totally gives it away.  It was supposed to be a surprise.  But how can I surprise you with a title so obvious as it is?

Last week I showed you how I turned a utensil caddy snagged up at my local Target, into an organized art caddy:

And at the end of the post I had let you know that I had snagged up two more caddy's just like it, and asked you to guess what I did with them...

So what do you think?  OK, you guessed it... I used one for an organized cleaning caddy!  Wow, Sherlock would be impressed with your mad investigating skillz.  Seriously!

{Disclaimer:  Make sure if you are stashing your cleaning supplies below, that you add a child safety lock to your cabinet door}

The cleaning caddy tucks away just perfectly below the kitchen sink and holds all of my daily cleaning essentials just perfectly!

But of course I couldn't leave it looking to blah.  Cleaning is a chore.  Let's smile it up a bit!  Using my Silhouette Craft Cutter, I for the very first time, made a vinyl decal:

I know it's a smidge hard to read, but it states, "sparkle".  Because, well, "clean" is just too typical and sparkle is what I want my home to do after I go through it with my newly organized caddy!

But back to the caddy itself.  I switch up my cleaning supplies pretty regularly depending on what's on sale, if I decide to make my own or try a new eco friendly option.  This time around I happened to be on a Method kick since it was on sale and I can snag it up when I go grocery shopping:

You see how the size of the spray bottle + the size of the cleaning caddy = a match made in perfection heaven?

I love when things work out so swimmingly.  And yes, that is pretty much my home arsenal when it comes to doing my daily/weekly spruce ups.  Microfiber rags and dusters, toothbrushes, potty, floor, glass, wood and all purpose cleaner.

So that is utensil caddy numero dos for you!

Two utensil caddy's and zero utensils.  That's totally how I roll.

How are you rolling?  Outta town for the weekend?  Anyone else using things for something other than their intended purpose, to get organized or not?

  6. Oh, I really love the *sparkle label. I might actually like cleaning more if I had a caddy with sparkle written on it.

The caddies are found at Target in the spring/summer seasonal department. They are actually utensil caddies.

  10. I never would have thought to use the word "Sparkle" but, if I may, I'm stealing the idea for my own cleaning caddy. :)

  15. Jen I absolutely love this idea. I think I'm going to have to get one or even two so that I can organize my under the sink mess. Well it's a half of a mess right now. I have one organizational drawer under there right now, but this would help the other side of the cabinet. And I love how you hung up those pretty dish washing gloves. Awesome idea.

  18. Well after reading your post the other day I went straight to Target to get a few of these caddy's. I searched high and low and our Target doesn't stock them. Must be only in US not AUS. Oh well, might have to look elsewhere. I do have a caddy for housework. It's actually called a Housekeepers caddy and looks very similar to these. They came from Howards Storage World. Maybe I can get more of them and paint them for different purposes. Thanks for the inspiration.

  23. Hi Jen! Love your blog and visit it often. Pillow question- where did you get those pretty paisley pillows that your poor little guy is resting on in your 4th of July photos?

  24. I'm holding you responsible for these caddy's being so hard.to.find. LOL. Seriously, between 4 stores, we found 2 in white. The good news, they're on clearance now. I picked up one today for $8.39.

  25. I use a cleaning caddy as well and just love it...I am crazy liking the vinyl *sparkle* you put on yours...you got my wheels turning :-)

  26. I love your idea! You always make everything look cute and fun.. I think I need to invest in a cleaning caddy, it makes things so much easier when it's all in one place that you can move around with you :) Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful idea, once again! :)

  27. Looks like I'm not the only one wondering about your contact paper?/wall paper? under the kitchen sink--where do you find such great designs? I would love to have you do a post on your wallpaper projects (specifically where you find the wallpaper and tips on using it for projects) and also how to spray paint things to change color/spruce them up a bit--with blow by blow details so I might actually think of attempting some spray painting projects myself! Thanks Jen--found your blog a few months back and I'm totally addicted!!

  28. Hi Jen!
Love this post. In what section of Target did you find your utensil caddy? I looked high and low and wasn't able to find them in my local store. Thanks for your help!

  29. @Priscilla, I found it in the seasonal section, in our Target, it is located at the far end of the food isles.

I heard they are clearance-ing them out as we speak!

  30. Jen, a big thank you to you and this post! You inspired me to have my hubby clean out and beautify (i.e. paint in a gleaming white)the underneath of our kitchen sink! I went to Target and bought myself a new Michael Graves caddy with built in paper towel holder and all new Method cleaners! THANKS A MILLION!

  31. I just checked two Targets in Kansas and they didn't have them. I guess it's one of those things that you're lucky if you find it at this point.

  32. Jen, you mention that sometimes you make your own cleaner...what do you use? I'm very interested in making my own to be more ecofriendly and budget-friendly.

    1. I typically just use a mixture of water, vinegar, borax, dish-soap and lemon. I will have to do a post on it, since I am aiming to completely switch to home made cleaners! :)

      xo,
      Jen
