IHeart: Life Planning Giveaway

**  Attention:  This Giveaway has since ended.  Thanks everyone for participating!!  **

IHeart my life planner.  I mentioned here why.  But it's quite simple really.  It is my glue.  It keeps my family and I together.

Any planner will do really, although I am personally quite partial to the ErinCondren.com version.  It fits me to a T.

Here are some tips on how I have personally found a planner beneficial for our clan:

  • It's portable.  The perfect size to be tucked in a bag and taken with me anywhere I go, yet stylish enough to leave out on our kitchen counter for the whole family to reference.
  • When the little ones bring home important papers/dates from school, when an invitation, vet or dental card comes in the mail or when I am on the phone chatting with my pals planning a girls night out, my planner is the first place I go to write in all the school events, appointments and plans.
  • I use it to keep track of important events for the kiddos, like their spelling test days, share days and after school activities.
  • It can be used as a great place to put in daily meals when doing our weekly meal planning.
  • Birthdays and anniversaries are never forgotten because they are all marked in at the beginning of the year.
  • FAMILY NIGHT!  We personally schedule our family night in our planner each week.  Why?  Because if we don't, we get busy with all the other hustle and bustle that life brings.  Last minute dinner invites and sporting events and other random plans that come up, leaving family night in the dust.  When we put it on a calendar, it comes first and we are obligated to say, "No" to other things that just pop up.
  • Wish list plans.  In the back of my planner there is a section for "Notes".  The family did a pow-wow and came up with a giant wish list of items we would like to do in 2011.  The list included things like camping trips, volunteer work, exploring new parks, bowling nights and trips to the beach.  We then looked through the year and put many of the events on our calendar now.  Why?  Because if we don't, weekends fill up so fast, that it becomes a challenge to get away.  We cherish our family moments and time together and doing this allows us to really prioritize what is important to us and hold us accountable to giving our kids many amazing childhood experiences.
As I mentioned, these concepts and ideas can be applied to any calendar or planner, but if you want a life planner of your own.... I AM GIVING ONE AWAY TODAY!!

That's right, when I ordered mine this year, I happened to pick one up for you too!  Because of your daily comments, sweet words, inspiration, drive to become more organized, emails and questions.  Because you all keep this blog alive, and I am grateful!

Here is what the lucky winner will receive:

One 2011 ErinCondren Life Planner!

Colorful pages to brighten each day!

Inspirational quotes to start every month off right and blank pages for notes!

Oooh la la! Colorful stickers for bright reminders of important dates!

  2. Oohhh, girl! IHeart Planning!! I love this little organizer. To be honest, since I had my baby in November, there isn't much planning or organization to my day. But, as she gets older, I'd like to set more of a schedule and this handy planner will help me do just that!

I love to write things in planners...it makes it look like I have an actual life. Even though I'm a single gal, it definitely helps me keep track of appointments, parties, available weekends for fun, football games in the fall, etc.

  10. Oh geese! I've been drooling over these planners ever since you first wrote about them. I am certain that life would be a little less chaotic if I had a beautie like this in my life. Something to tell me when and where I should be and what exactly it is I should be doing. Maybe then...just maybe, I would stop running a much around my house and my girls would stop looking at me like I'm insane.
    I {heart} planning!!!!

The most exciting thing we have planned right now, is taking my 2 1/2 daughter to Disneyland in January for her first time :o)

  19. IHEART PLANNING! I am an avid Excel spreadsheet maker for just about everything. And I had an 18 month planner, which caused me to be off the year so I was without one for a while and then one of my teacher friends gave me one that is only for the school year! So I desperately need a new one!!

I currently plan and organize everything on POST IT NOTES. Yes, it's a very sophisticated system. This planner would be a great win for me because it would keep me organized in life, with kids, and the new job I'm starting in about a week.

My most exciting plan for 2011 is starting school at the Cal State level. I'm hoping to finish my AA degree and start working toward my BA in Social Sciences. I'm gonna be busy, busy. :)

  29. IHEART PLANNING: Why do planners get my all giddy...I love them and love having one. Personally I use mine to keep track of meal plainng and dail schedules for my husband and I. Eventually it will also keep the kiddos on track when they get bigger and get more involved in things.

  40. I Heart Planning!!! I may sound off here but I Time Block for the entire year, then each month I sit down and rearrange things accordingly, and weekly I sit down and rearrange accordingly. I am a mom, wife, and real estate agent...so it is important to time block so that I can get some time with my family and not always working with clients. I saw your original post on this and loved it from the beginning!!!

  41. IHeart Planning! Well, I wish I did, and maybe this is what I need to get things kicked off right this year.

I've been getting better about putting dates into my phone calendar, but still fall a little short of the bar. Right now I'm on a maternity leave until the fall when I return to teaching, so it is a great time to tackle organization projects and get life in order, which is so difficult to do while I'm also working a full-time job outside of the home. Additionally, 2010 started off with me breaking my dominant wrist on Jan. 1... ugh... finishing my Montessori certification, being pregnant with and having my second son, my husband losing his job, so I've been in more of a funk than usual this year; we've called it the "curse of 2010". So with or without a new planner, may 2011 bring nothing but cheer and good tidings!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I Heart Planning! I am really hoping for a better year in 2011, 2010 was just the worst. Working two jobs and no time for anyone, so this year I am prioritizing, and making time to fill in some fun weekends! That planner is too cute!

  50. IHEART PLANNING! Currently I use Google Calendar. My husband and I both can view the one calendar from anywhere we have internet access. If I am on the road and need to add an appointment I simply text the info to the Calendar and it adds it automatically. If I am out and need to check if anything is schedule for a certain date I can also text the date in question and I will get a text back with what is on the calendar. I also get daily texts with what is going on for that day as well as reminder texts of events that I can set up to come as often as I need to remind me. It's GREAT for busy moms on the go!!

  51. I have been looking for a planner for my busy family...I like that this calendar planner is a catch all: everything in one place. 52. IHEART PLANNING!!! I love Erin Condren - I just ordered an address book from her but would love to have a life planner!! Your blog is a BIG source of inspiration for me! 53. IHeart Planning!!! As a pastor's wife and stay-at-home mom to two, I try to plan out our days, weeks and months. I really do. Since we haven't planned out 2011 yet, the most exciting thing we have planned is tonight..Family Movie Night!! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a fabulous prize!!!

  55. I heart planning! I am a working mom of four and currently use a planner that's just not big enough for each of the (color-coded) kids' activities, work schedule, appts, etc. I plan and shop for a month of meals at a time and put an asterik by the meals that need to be eaten first due to possible spoilage. The list is posted on the fridge so the kiddos can pick a meal that sounds good that day. My weekly trips to the store are quick to get fresh fruit, lunch meat and perishables. Plus, I save a lot of money!

I too just had a daughter in November and with my other daughter just starting school (kindergarten) life has gotten even more hectic! I'd love to be able to jot everything down in this calendar... my life is currently screaming for some organization and efficiency! I hope I win! Regardless - I look forward to hearing more ways to keep organized!

  60. Iheartplanning! I have a few ways to keep myself up-to-date. The first, is my Google Calendar. I love it as I can share calendars with other people, keep them private, and color categorize them. And to make it even better- it links with my smart phone. But I also carry around a medium sized notebook with me. It basically is a book filled with to-do list, random items to purchase when I'm out, and chores. Without both of these items- I'd be LOST!

  70. I LOVE planning. I relish this time of year for new ideas and anticipation for new memories to be made. I like to sit and plan the first day of the new year and have a "LIST" of things I want to plan/learn in the upcoming year. it's a brainstorm list so some are off the wall but they are all ideas of something in my head trying to manifest. Planners are awesome because they keep you on track and i would feel LOST without one because it keeps EVERYTHING in one place. I keep a planner by my computer and each day I write out what I'm going to do as far as housework, meals and work for that day. Whatever I don't get done, transfers over to the next day. I also use the sticky note system. Basically every surface of my desk has sticky notes with various events, things to do or just random information.

  115. I've wanted a planner like yours since I first saw it here! I would love to have one of my own. I use a planner to keep track of the many directions I have to go every day. An empty nester with no children at home I am now keeping track of my dear, little mother's appointments that I must drive her to, my sweetheart's commitments that involve me, my own chaplain ministry and everyday life. Without a planner I would certainly arrive at the wrong place at the wrong time!

Oh la la, that planner looks lovely! My diary has sat open on my computer desk - where it often gets looked at - for so long it's dusty! Something I could admire instead of cringe at would be appreciated.

How do I plan out my days, weeks, months? I'd like to think I'm a lot more organised than I am, FlyLady was my saviour when my kidlettes were younger. I have fallen badly off of that bandwagon and so lately, I organise my life by the seat of my pants, waiting until things can't be left any longer. Sad, unfortunately, but currently true.

Our most exciting thing planned for this upcoming year is to move into a bigger house with a HUGE backyard for our boys and a wonderful walk in pantry for mommy!

I make a monthly dinner menu, that way I never have to figure out what's for dinner and I can easily shop for what I need without too many extras since my apt is very small!

  181. IHeart planning and organizing! I currently use my phone calendar to plan but when someone is calling you and you have to fumble putting it on speaker to see - its not really effective. Plus its much quicker to jot down lists, appointments and ideas than to pound it out on my phone. This lovely planner would be just what I need to plan and organize effectively! Thanks Nicole

  183. I Heart Planning!!! I'll use this to keep track of my daughters and my schedule. Summer 2011 we're planning a huge family reunion with my 6 Aunts and Uncles (plus their spouses) and my 18 cousins and their kids and maybe grandkids? It's going to be huge! My dad is the oldest of 8 children. One of my uncles died a few years ago so there are 7 children left. My Grandma, God Bless her, has been gone 20 years and her husband died when I was 3.

    I can't wait to see everyone. :)

  184. I Heart Planning!! Things like this organizer make me more excited than most other things and no one in my family can understand this. They comment about how things run smoothly in our family of 6, but don't realize it's because I write evertything down on our family calendar to not only keep track of it, but as importantly, so I don't have to keep it running in my head. This planner looks great and it would be such fun to sit for an afternoon and fill it. As far as planning this year, we have 2 huge events. First, our oldest daughter is studying in Hong Kong from January to June and I will be scheduling Skype dates as well as her return home date. Second, our second child (young man) will be graduating from High School so we will have many events and celebrations to plan for.

I make lists for my lists...and couldn't live without my cell phone reminders, Outlook e-mail calendar and wall calendar at home. The biggest thing I planned this year was a wedding...for 150 people...all by myself. It was stressful, but well worth it! My organizational skils definitely were the key to the wedding's success! We are in the process of buying a house, and maybe thinking baby, so I NEED a planner!

    Would LOVE to win! ashnick48@yahoo.com.

    Thanks...and LOVE your blog! :)

  190. IHEART PLANNING! I love lists and color coding my schedules. My husband thinks I'm crazy most of the time...but it keeps our lives going and since the baby came (almost a year ago) scheduling and planning are the only things that keep me sane.

Oh and I LOVE your blog!! You have so many great ideas.

  191. iHeart Planning!!!

At the end of 2009 I bought a blank moleskine with big plans of drawing up my own fabulous daily, weekly, monthly & goal charts. But... I'd fall behind on drawing up the next week so I couldn't plan ahead, or I'd have no dates for the current week so I couldn't even make a notedor that day! FAIL!! So in 2011 I plan on using a pre-set planner so I can stick to getting organized rather than getting stuck before I even start!

I would love to have it all in one place. Currently I have a calendar at home, a work calendar on email and a desk planner for my work classes. It's easy to mix up. The biggest thing planned so far for 2011 is our annual family vacation to The Outer Banks North Carolina!!

  194. IHeart Planning! I mainly use my smartphone to set up my calander--with alarms to remind me about important dates (like birthdays and appointments!) But the family can't hover around my Droid...So I would love to win this planner and keep them in the loop too!

  195. IHeart Planning! But I'm not very good at it. I'm always flying by th seat of my pants! One thing we are doing for 2011 is plan our vacations out at the beginning of the year. We're hoping that will give us some good family time sprinkled through the year!

  196. IHeartPlanning! I would love to win this...with a 1 and 2 year old and one on the way, I think the planner would help us keep things a little more sane! Right now I mostly use a dry-erase monthly calendar to keep our schedules together!

    Thanks for the constant inspiration!

  197. iheart planning! We just had our first child - little boy Danny! - in July and juggling my husband and I both working full-time (i went back at 6 weeks post-partum) and the new baby is crazy! I'm hoping to be transitioning to a new (still full-time, but super flexible hours - mostly night work) job in a few weeks and could really use this planner to help with our new schedules, etc!

I currently use a monthly calendar with stacks of post-its attached to the back cover to plan, but really need to make the transition to a weekly / daily planner given the new craziness in our house! We also have a family wall calendar for big events and meal planning - when we remember to do it!

I've loved all of Erin Condren's stuff since you posted about it last year, but haven't gotten the courage to fork over the $$ yet... this would be a great solution!

Most exciting thing we have planned for 2011 is hopefully getting pregnant with baby #2!

  198. IHeart Planning! I've been using my phone calendar to keep me organized, but feel I should go back to a paper calendar for 2011 because I was more organized with a paper one. We planned a few vacations this year.
